Figures such as architect Robert Adam, engineer Thomas Telford, artist Eduardo Paolozzi, fashion designer Holly Fulton, designer Christopher Dresser, and designer and architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh are testament to Scotland's role as a major player in design.
